Three little Church gems in the County

Ash Wednesday Service

We will gather in worship with our Anglican brothers and sisters St. Philip's Anglican Church, Milford on Wednesday, February 10th at 7:00pm. Janelle Shaw, minister of Cherry Valley and South Bay United Churches and the Rev. David Smith, priest of St. Philip's (Milford) and St. John's (Waupoos) will lead the service. All are welcome to attend.

Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of Lent, the period of 40 days immediately prior to Easter. It is a time during which Christians all over the world will remember the 40 days Jesus spent in the wilderness, fasting and resisting temptations before starting his public ministry. Each year, many Christians observe Lent by giving up a favourite food or activity in remembrance of and solidarity with Jesus' time in the desert. Others use the time to focus on the spiritual practices which bring us closer to God and so prefer to take on a new spiritual discipline instead of giving something up. Either way, the period of Lent is a time of self-reflection, repentance and deepening one's faith.

The service of worship on Ash Wednesday helps to focus our Lenten observances as we worship together offering strength for the journey.

We hope you will consider joining us.
